A little about me:

I am a lover of music, literature, history and coffee. I have been in Colorado most of my life, but was born in California. I LOVE to travel (as you can see from my pics below). In the last few years, I have been to China, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, France, Spain, Amsterdam, The Czech Republic, Sweden, and Austria.

A little about my teaching background:

I graduated from Colorado State University in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in English Education at the secondary level. I taught 7th and 8th grade ELA for 4 years in Colorado and taught ESL in China for one year. I am currently working on a Master's in Education.

Fall Semester Units:

1) Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare Unit)

In this unit, we will read (and perform!) Shakespeare's most famous play Romeo and Juliet. We will discuss common literary elements such as metaphor, theme, allusion, and poetic structure.

2) Night by Elie Wisel (Studying the Holocaust)

We will be teaming-up with the social studies teachers to learn about the Holocaust during World War II. Our classroom read will focus on the experience of Elie Wisel, who was a survivor of this atrocious event in history.

3) Multi-Cultural Books (Book Club Unit)

In this unit, you and a small group will be choosing a book that centers around a different culture. You will set reading goals, brainstorm a final project, and hold weekly discussions.

My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.
