STEM Academy students and Agriculture students at Gloucester High School participate in a presentation on turf science and professional turf development and management. Presenters included:

  • Rodney Hopkins, Innovative Turf Application and Consulting (ITAC), Sandy Hook, Virginia
  • Michael Goatley, Department of Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences, Virginia Tech
  • Jimmy Viars, Grounds Manager, Gloucester County Public Schools

Rodney Hopkins, founder of Innovative Turf Application and Consulting, demonstrates the advanced technology of the Koro Field Top Maker Fraise Mower, used for high-quality restoration of professional athletic fields.

Jimmy Viars, Grounds Manager for GCPS, demonstrates the technology of a commercial aeration system that relieves turf stress caused by compaction. 

Rodney Hopkins demonstrates a Pro-Core aeration system that provides customized aeration depths and patterns to meet every professional customer's needs.

Rodney Hopkins demonstrates the Koro Fraise Mower and its ability to remove top layers of growth from a turf field to promote restoration.
