Welcome to the digital museum of my hometown - Fort Collins, Colorado! Located roughly 50 miles north of Denver, Fort Collins is the the fourth most populous city in the state of Colorado. Check out each exhibit to learn more about what make Fort Collins one of the best places to live and raise a family in the entire country.

Pictured above is a drawing of the original Camp Collins, founded by and named after Colonel William O. Collins in 1864. It was originally erected to protect the Overland mail route carrying mail and passengers from the eastern part of the country to the west coast.

Fort Collins sits along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, approximately 4,982 feet above sea level. The city boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year on average, making it a beautiful place to get outside and enjoy nature. Horsetooth Reservoir and Horsetooth Rock are must-see destinations, along with the dozens of parks and natural areas that are free for the public to enjoy. In 2018, Fort Collins was named the most bike friendly city in the whole country - and for good reason! Whether you're looking for a more economical and environmentally-conscious means for your daily commute, a leisurely stroll through one of the city's many designated bike paths, or even an adrenaline-pumping mountain bike ride, Fort Collins has it all.

A fun fact about Fort Collins is that its downtown area, called Old Town Square, was the inspiration behind Main Street USA in Disneyland, California! Harper Goff, the creator behind the Disneyland design, grew up in Fort Collins and was always inspired by the beautiful architecture of the area. Learn more here: history.fcgov.com/legends/disney
