My name is Joel Hollands. I live in Denver, Colorado and go to Denver Central Academy. I'm in the 12th grade and will be graduating this month. 

I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. It is famous for its proximity to the Rocky Mountains. From my house, I have a fantastic view of the mountain range. In the winter, my family enjoys skiing at the Vail ski resort. During the warmer months, you can find me playing soccer outside with my friends.

I live with my dad, mom, baby sister, grandpa, and my cat. My dad is an electrical engineer. He works at a big cellphone company downtown. Mom stays at home with my sister, Emily. She can be quite a handful!

Grandpa John mostly just watches old Clint Eastwood movies and plays with Snowball the cat.

I have been involved in the robotics club at school for four years. Once a month, we participate in robot competitions with other schools. Essentially, the goal is to build the best fighting robot. It's a lot of fun- even when you lose!

During my free time, I also like to play the guitar. I am self-taught, so my progress has been a litttle slow.  However, I've learned some old Bob Marley tunes and a couple folk songs.

During high school, my best accomplishments have been my robotics club competitions. I have won several times the last four years and have the trophies to prove it!

The robots pictured above are two of the robots that I used to win a match a couple months ago. They have since been destroyed, but that's the nature of the game!
