AP Calculus

In March of 2022, my AP Calculus class was tasked with the project of creating a Calculus game with manipulable pieces. I worked in a group of 4 students and created the Integration by Substitution Four Color game. This is a matching game where players are required to solve a series of problems and place the matching solutions in the correct place. Download the document above for more details.

AP Physics

AP Chemistry

In April of 2022, I presented my final project for AP Chemistry. For this project, I explored the chemistry behind what makes fireworks display certain colors, shapes, etc. This was a fun and engaging project that allowed me to apply science and logic to answer a question and satisfy a fascination I've had since I was a child. Check out the document above for more details.

AP English 4

In November 2021, I presented my Contextual Research Presentation on A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce to my AP English 4 class. I really enjoyed diving deeper into Joyce's first published novel and sharing what I had discovered with my classmates. I have always been a fan of James Joyce, but hadn't yet had the opportunity to read this particular work before doing this project. I now have a deeper understanding of his writing style and subsequent works.

AP US History

In January 2022, I presented my Decades Project on the 1960s to my AP US History class. This research project was a lot of fun to put together, and I learned a lot about the era that I didn't previously know. It was interesting to dive deeper into the politics and other events that shaped the every day lives of people during this time. Check out the document above to learn more.

Spanish 4

In October 2021, I worked together with a group to write and record a Spanish language podcast in my Spanish 4 class. This was a very interesting project that allowed me to learn more about the process and technology behind recording a podcast, as well as practicing my linguistic skills in Spanish. My group's podcast was about the history, traditions, and celebration of Dia de los Muertos, a traditional holiday in Spanish culture.

In 2021, I was chosen through a rigorous audition process to participate in the Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts. This three week summer program gathers Kentucky's most talented and creative high school students to grown and learn together at a college residence program. This was an incredibly meaningful experience for me, as I plan to pursue music professionally after high school.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

  • Elementary Reading Tutor, 2021: I completed a semester-long internship at a local elementary school where I was placed in a second grade classroom with the task of helping individual students and small groups with their reading. I met individually with my mentor teacher once a week to learn how to best help the students and receive feedback on my performance.
  • Middle School Music Mentorship, 2020 - 2022: I participated in a student mentorship program where I taught percussion lessons to middle school students in small group settings after school. I worked closely with the middle school band director and other student mentors to develop and practice effective teaching strategies.
  • Sample County Humane Society, 2018 - 2022: I worked with the local humane society every summer to help with bi-weekly adoption drives. I helped with the transportation of the animals, cleaning their cages, supervising visits with prospective adopters, and facilitating adoption paperwork.
